Purpose of Dummy or Void Tickets
A dummy ticket looks typically like a regular airline ticket and has a valid PNR/ booking code or booking reference number. A PNR code is a 6 digit alpha numeric code that is provided by the airline. They can be verified on the airlines websites if checked using the "Manage my booking" tool or "My trips" section found on many airline websites. A dummy ticket is also known as a flight reservation or itinerary.
A void ticket is a confirmed airline ticket that is canceled within 24 hours of issuance. These tickets can be checked or verified on the airline's website, and their validity typically lasts for 20–24 hours.
The main use of a dummy ticket is for visa applications. Many embassies, consulates or visa application centers like VFS or BLS ask for a flight reservation during the visa application process. Dummy tickets are also used for proof of return to show at the immigration while traveling. Other uses of a dummy ticket are as below:
